2020 – 2021
Initiated a comprehensive redesign of Gedat's existing ERP system for temporary employment agencies. The redesign encompassed everything from their at the time on premise solution. Focusing on enhancing user interaction and backend migration to a modular system on a modern cloud platform.
Developed a detailed design system based on Material Design, established a modern UI with a wide variety of components. Transformed the development and product teams into a modern agile working environment by leveraging UX workshops and implementing scrum. By doing so enabled the team to further evolve the ERP's capabilities on their own.
Complete redesign and modernization of Gedat's legacy ERP system, incorporating a user-centered approach with extensive stakeholder involvement.
In July 2020, the UX journey began with analyzing the existing on-premise ERP solution of Gedat, aimed at providing a seamless transition to a modern web-based application. The project targeted temporary work providers, a niche yet significant industry requiring robust and flexible ERP systems.
The initial phase involved creating personas and mapping user journeys in a collaborative workshop with Gedat's team, leading to the identification of key user flows. These flows formed the foundation of the project, with subsequent validation through direct interviews with the target users.
Based on the insights gained, wireframes were developed and refined with continuous feedback from the development team and the product owner. The validated wireframes then transformed into sophisticated UI designs, which were presented and approved by all stakeholders.
Concurrently, a design system inspired by Material Design was established to standardize the look and feel across the platform. This system was codified into a reusable component library by the development team, ensuring consistency and speeding up future development efforts.
With the first iteration complete and stakeholder approval secured, I spearheaded the expansion of the design team to tackle additional ERP components, like the client back office dashboard. As the project grew, a bridge was built to integrate and modernize the underlying database systems, ensuring a seamless transition from the old to the new web-based format.
By January 2021, my role transitioned from active design and supervision to coaching and overseeing as I handed off the project management to the capable hands of my expanded design team.
Through strategic planning, meticulous design, and agile development practices, the TimeJob project not only modernized an outdated system but also enhanced the overall user experience and operational efficiency for Gedat.
