The team at anonyfy fights for a bigger focus on qualification not unchangeable human conditions in the hiring process. They want to eliminate attributes like gender, skin color, religion or other cultural backgrounds from the application process. Their goal is to provide a hiring platform for all companies that hides those attributes while focusing on skill.

Development of a visionary application platform called anonyfy, focusing on a user-centric design and a robust UI to stand out in a competitive market. Designing a brand and design system for a full software suite consisting out of a mobile web app for applicants, a web backend for recruiters as well as a web frontend for anonyfy itself. Development of all three apps went hand in hand while designing the application.

Challenge

anonyfy presented a vision that was not only forward-looking but packed with technically challenging and innovative ideas. The primary challenge was distilling these visionary concepts to their essence and focusing on the core message that would resonate with the target audience. In a market brimming with various application platforms, it was crucial for Anonyfy to significantly outperform the competition while focusing on exactly what their users needed.

Opportunities

In the modern globalized world applicants come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Companies have a huge demand for qualified new employees but are hindered by several hurdles. One of them is that because of structural and systemic culture almost all applications are influenced by soft factors that are based on unchangeable attributes like skin color, cultural background, religion, gender and so on. There is no human resource management system (HRMS) that fully implements an anonymous hiring process.

Solution

The solution is a flexible web app with three different target groups: applicants, human resources management and an internal anonyfy instance to manage customers. This platform is made to run responsive in any browser and can theirfore be accessed from any device that is actually used by the target group: phone, tablet and desktop browser.

Design and Development Process

The team at CODE LEAP, working closely with anonyfy, crafted a clear and impactful product vision through intensive workshops. By implementing personas and mapping out detailed user journeys, we gained deep insights into key user interactions that would shape the development of the product.

Starting with these insights, wireframes were meticulously developed, forming the groundwork for the final screen designs. Through continuous iterations and targeted optimizations, a comprehensive high fidelity design was established that catered to both applicants and companies.

Final Design Implementation

Subsequently, a detailed UI design was created based on Google Material Design principles, accompanied by an adaptive design system. This system ensured consistency across various design elements while enhancing development efficiency through component reusability.

One highlight is the anonymous voice message system that gives applicants the option to answer hiring questions by voice messages that are vocaly manipulated in order to guarantee anonymity.

Result

The culmination of our efforts resulted in a robust product concept integrating all insights gained. An extensive design component library was developed, perfectly aligned with anonyfy’s corporate identity. The final product encompasses an applicant portal, an employer portal, and the associated backend. To streamline app development, a detailed backlog including epics, features, and user stories was compiled, along with comprehensive architecture planning, incorporating data models and OCR PDF processing capabilities.

Outcome

The anonyfy project emerged as a beacon of innovation, offering a more intuitive and user-friendly interface than typical market offerings. This approach not only highlighted anonyfy's unique position but also set a new standard for application development in its category.

anonyfy gathered feedback for their product on a wide range of in person events were they also won a wide range of awards and articles: "Best of Technology 2024 HR by Wirtschafts Woche", "Impact of Diversity Award 2024", article in "personal.magazin", article on "deutsche startups" and many more.
